Moving and an Arkansas Photoblog
Well It’s been 6 months since I got back from Korea. It’s honestly taken this long to completely get used to things again and I’m not necessarily sure that’s a good thing. Once again I’m back to swearing at people on the interstate during my hour daily commute, cussing the stupidity of our politicians; and worrying about the economy, my personal finances, and job....

Is the party ordered
I went back down to the local little Japanese style bar i`ve been going to for the whole week. The master at the bar welcomed me and explained to all the people in the bar who didn’t know me that I was the crazy white man who had been coming there for the past 3 nights. He even had my bottle of shoju which he opened for me the first night on hand ready to pour. If I ever teach English again...

Oh god i`m tired...
Well the eve of my last-night in Asia is finally here. I spent almost 6 hours in and around the Imperial Gardens here in Tokyo taking photos. I think I got some pretty good shots. I fired up my laptop to transfer them off my memory card which I filled up pretty quick. There was a huge group of old women at the park wearing what looked like traditional adjama dress, you guys from Korea will know...

So much to do, and so little time
Only one more night for me here in this great city. I have to say Tokyo is one of the most amazing places I have ever been in my life. Everything is impeccably clean, the streets are spacious and the architecture is different on every corner. So far over the past days I`ve been to Ginza, Ropongi, and today Denki-gi in Akihabara. Ginzahas got to be the upscale shopping center of the world. Think...

THIS IS NO LONGER THE KOREAN ADVENTURE
just for your information I arrived in Tokyo about 6 hours ago. So far it’s lived up to my expectations. It’s amazing how clean a city this size can be. I watched the sunset from the 20th floor of the hotel bar. Definately an amazing place. I’m desperately trying to adjust after being in Korea. I was sitting on a park bench on the side of the hotel drinking a beer in this little...

So long, Farewell
Well I’ve been lax in the posting again. Alot has happened in the last month and time has flown by faster than I would have ever though possible. I finally managed to get up to the DMZ tour with my friend Kristin. Really amazing tour. We were actually able to step into North Korea. Very serious business. We were told not to wave, point, or interact with thesoldiers at all. I even had to sign...

Will's Korean Chicken
Well I got bored while cooking dinner the other day and thought i’d make a blog post about it. I found a good article about Korean fried chicken to that I thought everyone might like. I might have already mentioned this in the blog but you haven’t had fried chicken untill you’ve had Korean fried chicken. Being from the south I thought I knew good chicken. I was certainly wrong....

Merry Belated Christmas and Happy New Year
Well once again the holidays are over here in Korea. We had Christmas partys for the kids and ate a nice chicken dinner at my friend Kristen’s house, theres was no turkey to be found and definately no way to cook one. The standard Korean kitchen consists of a 2 burner gas range and if your lucky a toaster oven. I had suggested frying one but we were still lacking the turkey. Ah well at...

Holidays in Korea
Well both Halloween and Thanksgiving are behind me. Halloween was a little depressing. The school changed test dates at the last moment so we weren’t able to have any partys at the school. I still managed to give out some candy though and taught the kids about trick-or-treating. I tried to explain where the holiday actually came from but when I asked them to write me about what they...

Great time, thanks dad
Well, It was a great ending to last month and the Korean Thanksgiving, Chuseok. My dad came to visit me here in Korea for the week and it was great. After a brief rest, (he had almost no jet lag btw… it was amazing). We hit the road for Taegu, which is North of Ulsan and about a 2 hour bus ride. The first stop for us was Camp Henry-the old military base that my dad was stationed at back in...

It's been a busy past month
Well it’s been a very very busy past month or so. After the island trip I went up to the old Korean Capitol of Gyungju which is about an hour north of Ulsan by bus. It’s a very scenic area filled with temples, museums, and shrines many of which go back hundreds of years. My first visit to Gyungju back in August I only had time to visit the large museum there and a few parks and burial...

Before I start with the tour.
Just thought everyone back home might be interested in this, president Roh Moo-hyun just met North Korea’s Kim Jong-il in the North’s capital, Pyongyang A few minutes ago. My roommate came in and woke me up so I could see it live on TV. Kina strange to see this kind of news and think, oh wow that’s happening a 5 hour bus ride from me. Contrary to what a lot of people think back...

I've been remiss in my blogging i do apologize
Sorry it’s been so long since I last posted, it seems harder and harder to post simply because I keep getting more and more used to things here. I forget that they still seem strange and foreign to all of you back home. I’ve got a nice bit about Gyungju. (the old Korean Capitol) coming soon and also my trip to Japan (Fukuoka) I took last weekend during a typhoon, which just barely...

Lots of things going on
Well i’ve got a slew of new photos i’ve had to go through and I figured these were the most interesting. I’ve actually gotten so used to things here that all the strange foreign things just seem normal now. Which is partly why i’m so behind on writing in my blog. Last month I went up to the north west portion of the country to a place called Boryong with a group of about 30...

Success
Well even though the weather’s been bad I made myself get out this weekend. I randomly picked a location from the Ulsan city map i’ve got. It lists the 12 or so most scenic sites… someone should have been fired, but it really wasn’t too bad. I went down to Ilsan beach with a friend of mine. We hopped on one of the many city buses which was jam packed with Koreans. Luckily...

Back and alive
It’s been a busy past couple of weeks so I haven’t had too much time to work on much photography or get out of the city. I’ve got a new roommate. My old roommate’s contract expired and he decided to head back to Kansas for the next year, although he said he’s definitely coming back. I had another friend leave as well. One of the Korean teachers who has been at the...

Happy Independence Day
First post in a little while, honestly nothing very eventful has occured lately. It’s been work, sleep, work, sleep. I did have time over the weekend to go visit Hakesong Park which is actually the site of an ancient stupa, I got some pretty decent photos. A few of which have already been accepted on my stock photography website. I also just recently hit 500 downloads on my Istock...

Sorry it took to so long to get the last of the photos from the holiday up, as you know I’ve been trying to get a cell phone since i got here. Well I finally just rounded up all my information and my electronic translator and started trying random cell phone stars. Finally! I found one with a girl who spoke… a little bit of English, and horra!!! I got a phone. If you want me number...

Buddas Birthday
Well yesterday was certainly an interesting day. We had the day off from class for the national holiday of Buddas Birthday. Started the day with a buddy from work and we visited what we thought was a temple but was actually more of a shrine than anything. Theres a big difference, be sure and check the link, I learned something new today! Temple or shrine the place was still beautiful, albeit...

Yin & Yang
Well, i’m back in Ulsan. Taegu was certainly a beautiful place, it’s alot more um.. swank than Ulsan. The place was filled with high end clothing shops, vintage shops, custom scooter places, wine bars, and anything else western you could want. The air was a good bit cleaner to. Chris and I spent the first part of the day wandering around, Taegu has about twice the population that Ulsan...
